Reusable transport items (RTI) are used in intra logistic processes like production, production logistics, internal transport, storage and circulating processes as well for standardized exchange of goods among participants of a value chain.
Due to increasing cooperations in supply chains as well as tightened regulations concerning obligations to take back disposable transport packaging the use of RTI increases steadily. RTI are trays (cartons, small unit loads, kegs, bottles etc.) or load units (pallets, cage boxes etc.).
In order to achieve a preferably low tie-up of capital the number of RTI should be as low as possible. At the same time the risk of sales losses due to low assets of RTI has to be avoided.
RFID Asset Tracking Systems bring transparency into RTI management. In order to generate various analyses Therefore the following events have to be acquired and saved throughout the whole process chain:
- Which RTI has passed the data acquisition point?
- When did it pass?
- From which direction?
Stand alone applications and integrated material flow systems (WMS/MFC/SAP) can be realized using a UHF antenna gate solution (EPC compliant) and an Asset Tracking Manager.
