Handle totes, trays and cartons

The performance of miniload systems has been increasing in over time, both in terms of speed of storage and retrieval, and also in the range of products that can be handled.

The latest systems are based on in-rack shuttle technology, with a potential throughput many times that of equivalent miniload systems. These AS/RS systems handle totes, trays, and cartons, and provide quick and automated buffering functions. Many are used in association with split case picking – and, increasingly, now also with full case or tote order assembly.

Automated Replenishment

Miniloads and Dematic Multishuttles are not only ideal for storage, but they are also ideal for replenishing pick faces. In addition to increasing efficiency, they reduce the possibility of pick face stock-outs because they are responsive and dynamic.

Goods-to-Picker Systems

Dematic Multishuttles and Miniload systems form the "engine" for Goods-to-Picker systems. In these systems, product is brought to the order picker, eliminating unproductive walking.

Order Consolidation Buffering

Picking systems frequently produce orders in a random or un-sequenced manner. Traditionally these orders are sent to a sorter where operators have to palletise the irregular supply of product. A small AS/RS system can be used to buffer these order totes until they have all been picked, and then release them to a loading station where they can all be palletised very efficiently.
