Smart Conference a major success for Dematic
The Smart Conference has long been recognized as the leading conference for Supply Chain Management and the 2007 event enhanced this reputation.
Dematic has been a Gold Sponsor of the Smart Conference since its inception and the conference provides Dematic with an ideal platform to showcase its capabilities through the delivery of papers at the conference and by exhibiting at both the conference and the adjoining Smart Supply Chain Solutions exhibition. Once again, the conference was an outstanding success with delegates responding well to the subject matter contained in the Dematic papers and both booths generating a high number of quality leads.
This year Dematic provided two keynote addresses for the conference delegation.
Tony Buckley, Global Head of Grocery Supply Chains, Dematic delivered a paper entitled ‘How innovative technology can accelerate performance in changing retail supply chains’. In his presentation, Buckley reviewed the latest logistics system innovations, their integration with existing technology and how these solutions will lead to accelerated performance and new productivity benchmarks.
The second paper was delivered jointly by Pas Tomasiello, Manager Direct and Wholesale Distribution at Dematic and Scott Kerr, Managing Director Kerrect Logistics, in the form of a case study entitled ‘Ezibuy’ - a supply chain designed for customer satisfaction’. Ezibuy’s customer focused philosophy lead to a uniquely challenging distribution task incorporating the handling and re-induction into stock of returned items, the induction into stock of product received in bulk from global suppliers and the fulfilment of more than 9000 orders per day. The distribution centre project was completed, from earthworks through to commissioning in less than 12 months.
Smart Awards: In recognition of exceptional performance
