Vertical Conveyors

Two types of Vertical Conveyors are available: continuous and reciprocating.

Continuous Vertical Conveyor

These conveyors use chains with continuous platens.

Advantages

  • Can transport goods up or down
  • Throughputs up to 30 cpm
  • ‘Z’ or ‘C’ configurations
  • Minimal footprint
  • Very quiet

Disadvantages

  • Complex infeed synchronisation
  • Needs some accumulation
  • More expensive than reciprocating vertical conveyors.

Reciprocating Vertical Conveyor

These conveyors use chains or belts to lift or lower platens in a single cycle.

Advantages

  • Up or down or dual cycle
  • Multiple cartons per lift
  • Minimal footprint
  • Simple infeed synchronisation
  • Very quiet
  • Lower cost compared to Continuous Vertical Conveyors

Disadvantages

  • Limited throughputs depending on height of conveying distance
  • Must accumulate prior to infeed
